BGen. Douglas S. Coppinger was recently named Deputy Chief, Central Security Service, National Security Agency, Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. He succeeds former Deputy Chief, RAdm. Rachel (Rach) J. Velasco-Lind. BGen. Coppinger began his career as a cryptologic linguist, and earned his commission as Honor Graduate of Officer Training School in 1993. He is a career Intelligence Officer, a Network Attack Specialist, a Latin American Foreign Area Officer, and has served in various leadership positions at the tactical, operational and strategic levels. Prior to his current position, BGen. Coppinger served as the Director of Intelligence at the US Cyber Command. He has a B.S. from Regents College, a M.S. in Strategic Intelligence from National Intelligence University, a Master of Military Operational Art and Science from the Air Command and Staff College, and a M.A. in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.
