May 25, 2021: President Joe Biden has appointed Terry Cosby to be Chief of the Natural Resources Conservation Service at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Formerly NRCS’s Acting Chief, Mr. Cosby has served for 42 years with the agency in such roles as State Conservationist for the State of Ohio, as an Area Resource Conservationist for Iowa, as an Assistant State Conservationist for Field Operations for Missouri, and as a Deputy State Conservationist for Idaho. He earned a BS in agricultural education from Alcorn State University. Mr. Cosby replaced former Acting Chief Leonard Jordan.
