April 27, 2021: Salt Lake County, UT, Mayor Jenny Wilson and the Salt Lake County Board of Health are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Angela Dunn as Executive Director of the Salt Lake County Health Department (SLCoHD). Dunn received her medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and her Master of Public Health in epidemiology from San Diego State University. She joined the Utah Department of Health (UDOH) in 2014 on assignment from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as an epidemic intelligence service officer and has served as State Epidemiologist for UDOH since 2018. Dunn will replace Gary Edwards, who is retiring in July after 16 years with the department and 40 years in public health. Dr. Dunn will begin work on June 1.
